Where is Hikumutu...
Located 10 minutes from the Central North Island town of Taumarunui, Hikumutu is conveniently but remotely positioned for your enjoyment. Hikumutu Lodge is located at 874 Hikumutu Road, Taumarunui.
For those without a GPS and don’t yet trust Google maps, here are some directions:
COMING FROM THE NORTH:
Travel down the main street of Taumarunui, past the information centre & turn right onto Hikaia Street– Sign post to Hikumutu
COMING FROM THE SOUTH
Travel up the main street of Taumarunui, past Mobil garage, fountain and before the information centre and railway station turn left onto Hikaia Street –
, signposted to Hikumutu……
THEN – Travel out of Taumarunui on this street, then turn right immediately after the bridge onto Hikumutu Rd. After about 6 kms the road forks, turn right following the signpost to the Community Hall (not Hikumutu Rifle Range). You’ll go past a hall, swimming pool & tennis court – the camp is approx 2kms beyond this on the left. If you get to the gravel road which coincides with the intersection to Wanganui Valley Road you have gone about 1km too far (the GPS does like to take people to the next house along the road).
The camp is 874 Hikumutu Rd which means we are 8.74 kms from when you first turned on Hikmumutu Rd just beyond the bridge.
If in doubt stay right & stay on tar seal.
